Thank You For Visiting This Page!
Hopefully you will spend some time here to find out a little more about me, my photography and the services I offer. My interest in photography goes back many years, but it was six years ago that I realised that my landscape images were becoming marketable.
I started with the intention of displaying my landscape images on the walls of local Kent galleries, cafes and bars and also selling stock images on istock and Alamy. My images have graced the pages of camera magazines, sports magazines, specialist local magazines and also in the National Geographic Traveller Magazine. I would say I was having reasonable success. About five years ago, I was asked by an ex-work colleague if I would shoot her registry office wedding, and then their wedding reception. At the time I was very apprehensive about taking on such a massive commitment. I had heard the horror stories of wedding photographers (broken equipment, out of focus final images, corrupted cards and flash failure). Why would I put myself through such an ordeal?
Well I did! I took the assignment and although nervous at first, I soon settled into the wedding shoot. The ceremony went without a hitch, and I was enjoying myself. Then the nightmare happened! After taking a few informal shots of the happy couple I became a statistic! My old, but tried and tested Canon 40D, gave up the will to work, leaving me totally confused, embarrassed and very apologetic. Fortunately my amazing bride and groom were so understanding of my predicament and suggested I continue the shoot with the grooms camera. The net result was a series of images that they were both very happy with.
I was hooked! I wanted to become a wedding photographer and more specifically a Kent wedding photographer. Having come through the other side, relatively unscathed, I re-evaluated my business plan and channeled my photography skills into the amazing world of wedding photography. The number one priority on my list was to purchase new, more robust equipment that would work through the rigorous demands of a successful wedding photographer.
From that point in time I have been on a journey of discovery. Looking back, although I believe I was a good landscape photographer it didn't mean I would be a good local wedding photographer. The subject matter at a wedding is an ever changing canvass and your powers of observation have to be razor sharp, otherwise those all important emotional or humorous shots are lost forever! I have researched the work of many of the great wedding photographers and have watched endless educational videos on wedding photography.
Am I the best I can be? The day I say that, is the day I will stop taking photos. I will continue honing my skills, learning how I can do the same shot differently and I will let my couples talk about my abilities as a wedding photographer. Check out the testimonials page and see for yourself their comments on us and our photography.
I do appreciate that a wedding is a huge financial investment for the couple, and sometimes certain things are removed from the day to allow for something else to be included. If not withdrawn completely then a cheaper alternative is sourced to save on the cost of a professional photographer. We all know of someone that has a 'nice camera' and most people have a mobile phone that takes reasonable photos - normally a bit shaky, but sort of ok when viewed quickly from a distance. Sometimes when savings are to be made, the attraction to go with this option sounds appealing. The downside is that all you will have is a selection of snaps, nothing to look back on with fond memories. With all the costs involved for a wedding day your professionally captured photographs are something you should not compromise on. These are the memories you want to hold onto. Professionally taken and processed images that will remind you of your fantastic, fun day 1 year on, 5 years on, 10 years on and forever more. Think twice before making the wrong decision!
