Sally & Kieran

What an amazing day with Sally & Kieran at their wedding at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel, Whitfield. Foul weather, gale force winds and poor light didn't stop this wonderful couple enjoying themselves and many images were taken on the day. This would have been fine but for one thing! The prepared plan was to take the couple to Russell Gardens, a local beauty spot with architectural features, water, cascades and spring flowers rather than the limited photo opportunities the hotel could offer. We left the wedding guests to their post ceremony drinks and some catch up time. All excited, we drove down to the car park opposite the gardens. As i opened the car doors the heavens opened with torrential rain.

Being a very rational couple, they both said that it was too awful to carry on, not to worry as they were more than happy with the shots they already had. Thinking about it later, I realised that if they were willing and the weather was favourable we could continue the shoot the next day and that is exactly what we did!

Although the next day was still bitterly cold, the sun was shining and the couple were up for it. We spent an hour in the gardens and created the shots I was looking for. The result was a very happy couple!

I am sharing the kind words they wrote about me and Stradling Photography:

"Geoff is an absolutely fantastic photographer. It has been two days since our wedding and we already have most of the photos. I cannot stop looking at them. So much care and thought has gone into each shot! Thank you so much for capturing each precious moment Geoff"................. Sally

My new wife has already said it but I wanted to say it myself. What a fantastic service! Thank you so much for capturing our special day Geoff!........... Kieran

Day 1 & Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my Blog  and its very first entry on the new Stradling Photography website. Although I was delighted with my previous website promoting my wedding photography, I was becoming over reliant on my web designer, Nathan Cramp. Nathan was superb, always willing to facilitate my requests for change but I was becoming very conscious that going forward and the growth of my Kent wedding photography business, the content changes would become bigger and more frequent and would therefore require a more flexible and expedient process. This would either require me doing a crash course in web design and programming or using one of the growing number of website creating programmes. I chose the latter!

In this video I'll show you how to make a website with Squarespace 7, step-by-step. I lead my son through the steps, and he builds the website completely on his own. So if this website is so easy to build that a 9 year old can do it, I'm sure you'll be able to build one too.

There is a lot to choose from in the web building market, some easier to work with than others. With the help of You Tube and reading the various website reviews on the main players, I narrowed my choice down to Wix and squarespace. Wix was a very easy drag and drop website builder and has a wealth of templates to choose from. Squarespace on the other hand took a while to get familiar with. I was, however, attracted to the quality of its pages and the fact that no extra work would be necessary to display the websites pages on phones and tablets. I found the You Tube channel invaluable and must thank Todd and his 9 year old son, Masa, for their instruction and guidance. Basically if a 9 year old, under his dads instruction could do it, then I was sure that I would be able to create one as well.

I am really proud of my site and hope you will approve of its content, style and layout. If you are reading this blog I would love you to have a look through the website and would welcome your comments and continued following.
